Arising from 2cm thick rhizomes to strongly arching hirsute (hairy) stems normally 35-45cm tall, but capable of 1.2m in good conditions. Bearing alternate elliptic-ovate ribbed leaves on very short clasping petioles that are glossy above of a bright green colour, to approximately 15 x 10cm. With axillary racemes of up to 4 pendant tubular white green-tipped flowers late April-May. Easily grown in part to full shade in most types of fertile drained soils.
