Description: From one of our seed collections gathered from the Cameron Highlands on the Malay Peninsular in the winter of 2005. An evergreen woodland perennial, from a thick creeping rhizome, producing robust upright stems 1-2m tall branched in the upper portion. Bearing elliptic-orbicular abruptly tipped thick-textured dark green leaves to15cm long, still emerging as the stems extend. With terminal and few axillary umbels of creamy white narrowly funnel-shaped flowers May-June, followed by globose blue-black berries on distinctly long stalks (5cm) August-on. Best grown in a warm shaded site in a leafy drained soil, protecting the roots from frost.
