Description: A native of western China which is where the seed of the parent plant at Ness Gardens came from. Grown primarily for its salmon-pink flushed white flowers in April which are followed by the largest fruit of the genus, these are yellow, aromatic and pear-shaped highly sought after for making jellies and jams, especially good cooked with apples in pies. Forming a very hardy deciduous shrub to 3 m tall by 3 m wide coping well with most fertile soils with some drainage, in part shade to full sun.
