Description:
A welcome gift from the Himalayas of a species that under ideal conditions can form a small tree, but in our climate more like a medium sized shrub. With terminal clusters of lustrous oblong-lanceolate leaves to 16 x 4 cm, with acute or acuminate tips, on slender glabrous branchlets. Bearing large terminal much branched corymbs to 11 cm long of yellow scented flowers, sometimes emerging white, from early summer soon followed by orbicular fruit which will eventually split to reveal the red aril-covered seed within. Hardiness unknown or tested by ourselves, plant in a sunny well drained soil/compost in a sheltered site our of severe frosts.
