Description: A vigorous twining deciduous climbing shrub, which can also be grown as a free-standing shrub, with reddish warty branches bearing ovate-elongated serrated vivid green leaves in this variety. With the small greenish-white flowers held in large terminal panicles July-August, followed by intriguing three winged persistent fruit which age pink. Easily cultivated in any fertile drained soil in sun or shade, very hardy. One of our collections gathered in the Yamagata area of north-western Japan in 2005.
