A small twining climber to 80cm growing from a rhizome, with semi-evergreen lanceolate leaves deep purple on their undersides. Late summer dark-stripped flowers of whitish-green are produced, followed by shining purple pods full of black seed. For a peaty soil part shade. Our collection from Taiwan with Dick Hayward in 2001.
