From cultivation in Japan and reputedly occurring in the Ryukyu Islands the string of islands to the south of the main islands. A tiny woodland gem forming a tight ground hugging perennial rosettes of narrow thin-textured persistent leaves only 5cm long. Bearing a conspicuous umbel of white starry flowers on upright short stems to 7.5cm long in autumn to winter. Requires full to partial shade in a moist but well drained soil.
