Juglans ailanthifolia - BSWJ12580

Originating from one of our seed collections gathered from the mountainous area of Odaesan in north-eastern South Korea in 2010. Where they formed erect well branched trees with grey-brown smooth trunks bearing large pinnate leaves composed of up to 21 softly pubescent leaflets which are to 12cm long. Bearing spikes of brownish flowers which give rise to the walnuts which are hard shelled covered in a pubescent green husk, which peel away when ripe. Best grown in full sun to part shade in any type of fertile drained soil in a situation not prone to late frosts.
