Originating from one of our collections from the island of Yakushima southern Japan gathered in 1998 on our first expedition there. A dwarf form of a beautiful variety which can be seen growing in the high mountains there. Growing in moist moss on vertical surfaces such as cliffs and large boulders, normally in the shade of smaller shrubs. A rosette forming, evergreen perennial, erupting into growth in spring. Forming a single fleshy upright green scape 10-15cm, crowned by a cluster of fragrant pendant small lily-like white flowers. Best grown at an angle to allow excess water to drain out, in a well drained humus rich drained soil in shade.
