Description: A gorgeous little plant was my first instinct on seeing a patch of this bright red flowering species, high in the Siskiyou Mountains at Serpentine Point, in southern Oregon with Sean Hogan in the autumn of 2014. We were in a very dry droughted area (contrast to Wales) where we could see low ground hugging creeping mats of small foliage with Penstemon-like red flowers hovering above. These were growing at the top of very stony steep dry banks in full sun, with umpteen species of Arctostaphylos. Best grown in a very well drained soil in a bright position in full sun, avoid over feeding.
