Grown from seed given to us of a perennial that can grow to 2m tall, with a spread of 1.5m in warm conditions. With branching stems of broadly lanceolate to elliptic leaves 7-18 cm long, with upright terminal spikes of dark purple fruit the result of the pinkish flowers. Although considered poisonous some species are eaten, not something we would recommend. Sometimes cultivated as it has many valued properties, used as an ink or dye. Full sun or light shade in any type of drained fertile soil.
