Description:
An alpine species, which we found growing in constantly moving shist in the cold mountainous area close to Yakou, Central Taiwan, at around 2700m. Where it formed suckering tussocks to 10 cm tall, of glossy dark green ferny foliage, with few small barbs on their undersides. Topped in summer by disproportionately large white flowers, soon followed by red edible strawberry-like fruit. Full sun well drained gritty soil preferably a bit moist in summer and drier in winter.
